East 133rd Street

My great-grandfather worked at the Monroe Paper Box Company, which was located on Walnut Street in the forties. Back then, New York was a center for manufacturing cigar boxes.

The Port Morris area west of the Bruckner Expressway is a mystery to me. What is it like living in a neighborhood with one bodega, with row houses scattered between factories and little else? I feel like it’s quiet…maybe too quiet? Does anyone have any stories about what it’s like over there?
